lights camera action

In my staging for Aeschylus’ Prometheus Bound, I would place virtually all the focus on the mountain and rock that Prometheus is chained to throughout the work. In the beginning I would focus on him being drug there and chained to the rock. I could see major sound effects that make the pain he is suffering felt in the audience. I would make the lighting a dark, evil, and mysterious color while his fellow God, Hephaistos, chains him to the rock since Hephaistos finds it so difficult to do.
In the background during intense moments throughout the play, like when Prometheus and Oceanus have their discussion about when and how to approach Zeus and how it could bring Zeus’s force on them, I can see how fire could be blazing around the mountain just to remind everyone that Prometheus brought fire to the mortals. That might seem a little out of place, but it would just be a small fire in the deep background. An example when the fire would be a little bit bigger would be when Prometheus is telling his prophecy to Zeus or closer to the end when him and Hermes are talking. It just seems like it would be more dramatic.
That is what I envision the play being like. Throughout the play I think there would be lots of dramatic sound effects and different light/color changes to set the mood.

I had a lot of the same ideas as you did and like how you would focus on prometheus being drug to be chained to the rock. To make the audience feel the pain and suffering it would be cool to have an orchestra or some sort of band playing during the moments of suffering. I like your idea about the fire, it would be an experience to be in the audience and feel the heat of the fire on your face. I think the heat would make the show a lot more realistic.
